Our mission
We aim to provide you and other weavers, knitters and slow fashion textile artisans with a curated collection of unique yarns and textile craft supplies that align with your values, accompanied by knowledgeable support. Transparency and honesty are at the heart of our business, allowing you to make more informed decisions.
About me
During my childhood, I was surrounded by yarns, looms, swifts, reeds, shuttles and, on occasion, sheep. My mum was (and very much continues to be) a talented weaver and she managed one of the largest mail order weaving suppliers in Australia in the 1980s and 90s. When I was home sick from school, I would help in the shop. At home, I would be called upon to maintain perfect tension while she wound on her warps.
In my adult years, the allure of yarns and looms again hooked me and so naturally I also became a weaver.
Weaving became the way I would unwind during my career in the sciences and higher education. But after completing a vocational qualification in applied fashion design and technology, I realised that I wanted weaving and textiles to occupy a larger space in my life.
This is a business where my passion for weaving and textiles, a growing concern about the environment and my scientific mindset merge. I hope I can support you, your craft and your values. Welcome to Lana & Algodon!
